I get it. In the world of aesthetics, pricing can feel like a mystery. Some places charge by the “area,” some charge by the “syringe,” and most, like me at Elite MedAesthetic, charge by the unit.
Currently, I price our neurotoxins (Botox and Dysport) at $11 per unit.
But here’s the thing: unless you’re a medical professional, “units” don’t really mean anything. You don’t walk around thinking, “I have 20 units of stress in my forehead.” You just want the lines gone!
So, let’s break down exactly what a unit is and how much you can expect to spend when you sit in my chair or host me at your home.
What Exactly is a “Unit”?
Think of a unit like a drop of liquid gold.
It is a specific measure of the medication. When I’m treating you, I’m not just “spraying” the area; I am precisely placing a specific number of these units into the muscle to get the exact amount of relaxation needed.
The reason I charge by the unit instead of by the “area” (like “The Forehead”) is simple: Fairness. Everyone’s face is different. A man with very strong forehead muscles might need 30 units to see a result, while a woman with finer lines might only need 10. If I charged both of them a flat “Forehead Fee,” one person would be overpaying, and the other wouldn’t be getting enough product. By charging $11 per unit, you only pay for exactly what your face needs.
The “Ballpark” Guide: What’s the Total?
While I can’t give you an exact quote until I see your face and how your muscles move, I can give you the “Knoxville Averages” I see every day at the clinic:

The “Dysport” Difference
Remember, I also use Dysport. Because the “strength” of a Dysport unit is different than Botox (it takes about 3 units of Dysport to equal 1 unit of Botox), the math looks different on paper, but the price ends up being almost identical. I adjust the per-unit price of Dysport so that if your forehead costs $200 with Botox, it will cost roughly $200 with Dysport. You aren’t paying more just because the unit count is higher!
