The “Elite” Aftercare Guide: How to Protect Your Investment and Your Glow

One of the most exciting moments in my day is handing a client the mirror right after we’ve finished a treatment. Whether it’s that subtle lift from Botox or the instant hydration of Juvéderm® lip filler, seeing that spark of confidence is why I love what I do at Elite MedAesthetic.

But here is the honest truth I tell every single person who sits in my chair: The treatment doesn’t end when the needle comes out. Your body needs time to process the “magic” we just performed. Whether I saw you at our Bearden clinic or we just finished up a mobile party at your home, the next few days are critical. If you want those “Elite” results, you have to be a partner in your own post-care.

Here is my professional guide on what to expect, what to avoid, and why patience is your best beauty secret.

1. Neurotoxins (Botox & Dysport): The 4-Hour Rule

When it comes to Botox and Dysport, my main goal post-treatment is to keep the product exactly where I placed it.

  • Don’t Lay Down: For at least 4 hours after your treatment, stay upright. I know it’s tempting to take a nap after a long day, but laying flat can cause the product to migrate toward your orbital bone, which is how people end up with “heavy” eyelids.
  • No Touching: Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas. You might feel a tiny “bump” where the injection happened; leave it alone! Your skin will absorb it within an hour.
  • Skip the Gym: Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Increased blood flow can actually wash the product out of the muscle before it has a chance to bind, potentially shortening the life of your results.

2. Dermal Fillers (Juvéderm): The “Day Two” Reality Check

Filler is a different beast than Botox. While Botox is a liquid that disappears into the muscle, filler is a gel that occupies space.

  • The Swelling is Normal: I always warn my lip filler clients: Do not panic on Day Two. Your lips have a lot of blood flow. They will swell, and they might look a little asymmetrical for a day or two. This isn’t your final result; it’s just your body’s natural inflammatory response.
  • Ice is Your Friend: Use a clean cold compress (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off) for the first 24 hours to keep the swelling down.
  • Avoid High Heat: Skip the sauna, the hot tub, and the intense Knoxville sun for at least 48 hours. Heat dilates blood vessels and can make swelling and bruising much worse.

3. The “No-No” List: Alcohol and Blood Thinners

If you want to avoid bruising, this is the most important section of this blog.

I love a good glass of wine as much as anyone, but I ask my clients to avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after their appointment. Alcohol thins the blood. When your blood is thin, you are much more likely to bruise at the injection site.

The same goes for NSAIDs like Ibuprofen or Aspirin. If you have a minor headache after treatment, stick to Tylenol (Acetaminophen), which doesn’t affect your blood’s ability to clot.

4. Why “Trusting the Process” is Essential

In 2026, we are used to instant gratification. But medical aesthetics is a biological process.

  • Botox/Dysport Timing: You won’t see much on Day One. You’ll start to feel a “tightness” around Day 3 or 4, but you won’t see the full, smooth result for 14 days. I never do “touch-ups” before the two-week mark because the product is still working!
  • Filler Integration: Juvéderm takes about two full weeks to “integrate” with your natural tissue. Initially, it might feel a little firm or “lumpy” to the touch. Give it time to settle and soften. By the end of week two, it should feel just like your natural lips or cheeks.

5. The Mobile Advantage: Relaxing at Home

One of the reasons our Mobile Concierge service is so popular is that it makes post-care so much easier. When I come to your home, you don’t have to worry about driving across town or running errands with tiny red marks on your face. You can transition immediately into “rest mode.”

I always tell my mobile party hosts: Make sure there’s plenty of water and ice available for your guests! Staying hydrated helps your body recover faster and helps hyaluronic acid fillers (like Juvéderm) look their best, as they love to bind to water.

My Promise: I’m Only a Text Away

At Elite MedAesthetic, I don’t just “inject and disappear.” If you have a question on Day 3 about a bruise, or you’re wondering if a certain sensation is normal—reach out. I stand by my work, and I want you to feel supported throughout the entire healing process. We are a team, and our goal is the same: a safe, beautiful, and natural “Elite Glow.”
